Innovations

Learning skills

We are taught to apply different tools to improve our ways to learn. Specifically, we work on the skills which are explained in the document “ Estil Metodològic de l’Escola Pia de Catalunya”, like research. cooperation, memorizing, expressing and communication. We think that apart from theoretical knowledge it’s important to develop some attitudes and other ways to learn better and faster.

Attitudes

We are made to practice several activities to learn some attitudes: reflective attitude, responsible, critical and autonomous. Teachers take all those points into account when they assess us as these attitudes are considered as important as the theoretical knowledge.

Another foreign language

In Secondary Education we can decide to study French, apart from English, as an optional subject. We can learn this language in 2nd, 3rd, 4th of Secondary Education, and in high school. Also, during the school year, we offer the possibility to participate in an exchange with other students from Orléans and Metz. We consider that learning foreign languages is very important for our professional future and an openness to the world of work, as a result we promote studying foreign languages.

Cooperation

One of the purposes from Escola Pia is to promote their ability to work in a group. To achieve this objective the students have to help each other to work on anissue, until all of them reach the aim.

Project work

In Primary Education and Kindergarten, the students make groups and they choose one issue to develop, by researching in several documents.

In OSE and high school we try to teach the theory in a general way, trying to promote the cooperative work.

Work corners

In Kindergarten, to promote responsibility and autonomy, the student, in many moments called “work corners”, must work individually or in little groups taking all the responsibility of their activity.

Intelligence activation project (IAP)

To improve the intelligence of the students, in Primary and Secondary education, we make some activities prepared to develop their skills.

TIC project (contemporary technology of computer)

Using the computer can help the students in their learning process and their own development. In OSE we teach how to use the operative system, create web pages and to use the office. Moreover, we have a service called “Plataforma Educativa” to be in touch with teachers and exchange documents, for example.

Documentary research project

With services like MediaLibrary, we try to make our students learn how to learn, using the research as a tool. It’s a good way to prepare the students for their future so that they can become more independent.

Musical educations

The school has many teachers to teach music throughout Primary and Secondary Education to enlarge the knowledge of: music language, choral, ensemble and one instrument (piano, violin, cello, clarinet, accordion, harp, guitar, drums and oboe). The objective is to get a high level of the instrument and music language.

This subject is optional so the student choose to do it or not. However , it is in the curriculum of our students so that they can have a high level of musical education inside the school system
